Ashkot Hydropower Project has been conceived on Neelum River in AJ&K on Neelum River. Water of Neelum river will be diverted upstream of confluence of Jagran Nullah through a tunnel to the powerhouse located on left bank of Neelum River near the village of Ashkot about 6 km from Kundal Shahi town.

The weir site has been proposed on just downstream of Sulkhalla village, about 56 km from Muzaffarabad city.

The selected scheme has a head difference of approx. 109 meters between the two upstream and downstream locations shall be utilized for generating much needed green and ecologically friendly energy for supply to the grid.
